  • Dates: Friday 19 June 2026 & Saturday 20 June 2026

  • Duration: 16 hours

The brief

In June 2026, Parramatta hosted it’s first ever half-marathon! PARKROYAL connected with The Pop Up Golf to deliver an activation to draw people to their stand by having a framed enclosure next to their stand. PARKROYAL wanted to encourage visitors to join its free loyalty program. The golf challenge gave people an activity to take part in at the stand and supported the wider campaign. The role of the golf simulator experience was to act as a ‘wow’ activation to draw traffic to PARKROYAL’s stand and encourage people to subscribe to PARKROYAL’S emailing list to participate in the golf simulator challenge and go in the running to win an amazing prize!

What we delivered

The Pop Up Golf operators arrived over an hour before the activation start time to receive wristbands and security clearances into the event. Following this, the team transported equipment to the PARKROYAL stand and commenced setup of the smaller framed enclosure.

In advance of the event, staff curated a custom branded leaderboard and competition that was displayed throughout the entire activation on the display monitor and branded signage.

The golf challenge was specifically recommended by our staff because we wanted to make the experience as inclusive as possible so that even beginners had a chance to take a prize home. Participants were allowed 3 shots with a 7-iron of their choosing and scored on how straight and far their shot ranked on the leaderboard.

The on-site operators were successfully able to form a queue throughout the entire event, encourage participant sign-ups and coach people prior to them having a go on the golf simulator.

How visitors took part

Visitors would see our professional and busy simulator and naturally walk towards the attraction and they were greeted by friendly PARKROYAL staff that explained the competition and the likely prizes. Once a visitor was greeted by PARKROYAL staff and registered their details with us by scanning our displayed QR code, then they joined the queue to get ready to participate. While waiting in the queue, they were watching their queue neighbours step up to the hitting mat and have a go at the challenge. By the time the visitor reached the front of the queue, they understood the challenge, however, to ensure safety, our operators still explained the process and how to swing a golf club if they didn’t have experience. Once the visitor was ready, they took three shots on the golf simulator and our operator recorded all three scores on our live participant tracker.

Campaign Result

Across the two-day campaign, PARKROYAL gained 500 new subscribers to its free loyalty program. The hosted golf challenge formed part of the wider activation.
