Golf Simulator Hire for Your Work Christmas Party in Sydney (2026 Guide)

Work Christmas party review about a golf simulator experience.

The venue's booked, the invites are out, and someone has asked the question every organiser dreads: "So what are we actually doing?"

Last December, The Pop Up Golf set up our simulator for CDS's end-of-year party on 19 December. We still recall all the kids flocking to the jumping castle meanwhile all the adults were comparing driver distances on the virtual driving range. That's the gap, a good work Christmas party fills the space with something everyone can try.

This guide covers what a golf simulator involves for a work Christmas party in Sydney: space, formats, what shapes the cost, and when to book.

Why a golf simulator works for a Christmas party

Event host coaching a first-time golfer on a portable golf simulator

Most Christmas party activities fall into two camps. Some only suit the competitive few, like trivia or go-karts. Others don't get anyone moving, like a long lunch.

A simulator sits in the middle. It works for:

  • Total beginners. Our host shows each guest how to hold the club and swing. Most people hit a decent shot within a few goes.

  • Keen golfers. They get real ball data (speed, distance, spin) and famous courses to play.

  • People who'd rather watch. A big screen and a live leaderboard give everyone something to cheer at.

It also comes to you. Your office, a function room, a rooftop or a backyard becomes the venue, so nobody has to travel. See our corporate golf simulator hire in Sydney for how it works at an office or venue.

How much space do you need?

Less than most people expect. For a recent backyard event we worked in a 4.5m × 9.5m area with room to spare. As a guide:

  • Ceiling height: our enclosures range from about 2.7m to 4m tall, so we match the setup to your venue.

  • Power: one standard power outlet within 10–15 metres.

  • Access: a clear path from where we park the van to the setup spot. Loading docks and lifts are fine; just tell us beforehand.

  • Outdoors: we'll need a rain plan. For a recent backyard party, we agreed an indoor backup with the host a week out when rain was forecast.

Not sure your space works? Add a photo and rough measurements to your quote request, and we'll tell you which setup fits.

Christmas party formats that work

The format matters as much as the technology. These are the ones we run most for work groups:

  1. Closest to the Pin. Everyone gets a few shots at a par 3, and the closest ball wins. It's quick, easy for beginners, and keeps the queue moving.

  2. Team Par 3 challenge. Split into teams (by department works well) and play a few holes. It gets people mixing.

  3. Long-drive leaderboard. We put the leaderboard on the screen all event, and the top spot changes hands all night.

  4. Casual range play. Guests drop in and hit balls between drinks and sliders, with no pressure to compete.

For bigger groups we track who's played and the scores. At our Father's Day activation for PARKROYAL Parramatta, 37 participants registered. We sent the participant tracker to the hotel team afterwards for their monthly report.

Cost of mobile golf simulator hire

Every Christmas party is different, so we put together a quote once we know what you have in mind. The main things that shape it are:

  • How long you need us: a 2-hour drop-in during drinks, or a 4-hour competition that runs all afternoon.

  • Group size and format: a casual range session, or a full team competition with a leaderboard and prizes.

  • Where you are: anywhere in Sydney is standard. Events further out include travel.

  • Your space: indoors or outdoors, and which enclosure suits the room.

  • Extras: branded golf balls, prizes or a live leaderboard on a second screen.

Every package includes delivery, setup and pack-down, the simulator and golf clubs, an on-site host. Request a quote with your date and guest numbers and we'll send you a tailored price. You can also see how our golf simulator hire works.

A note on fringe benefits tax: the ATO says recreational activities like golf can count as a minor benefit when they cost less than $300 per person (ATO: FBT and festivities). Check how this applies to your business with your accountant or a registered tax agent.

When should you book?

As early as you can. December weekends and Fridays are the first dates to go, since every office wants the same weeks. Our team have already started to receive enquiries for dates and it’s only October! Let us know once you have your dates, we take a 20% deposit to lock in your date, with the balance due 14 days before the event.

If your team has missed the December window, think about a January "new year" event instead. It's quieter, and it gives people something to look forward to after the break. Our team also run mobile golf simulator hire across NSW, so if your team is outside Sydney, ask us about your date early.

Planning more than one site?

We can move between locations. In February we ran three days in a row across three Australian Catholic University campuses: Blacktown, Strathfield and North Sydney. If your business has several offices, we can work out a schedule that covers them all.
